I'm a Dance Teacher Now...?

Today my apprenticeship had me going to the Philadelphia Independence Awards Workshop Day at the Kimmel Center where I was running a dance workshop for high school aged students. If there's one thing about me, it's that I will never ever in a million years describe myself as a dancer. Maybe a solid mover, but never a dancer! I have a good sense of rhythm due to playing to violin for over a decade and I can remember and execute choreography for shows. I've even choreographed a handful of shows before. But being hired exclusively for a dance class and no other theatre subject??? Nuh-uh! That's never happened before and while I was very nervous heading into it, I'd like to believe it went well! The students all seemed to have a good time once they loosened up and I did a good job of teaching the 90 second combo. They all remembered it and executed it very well considering how short the class was! Plus they all had fun and at the end of the day, that's what matters most to me.
