Mary Poppins: The Sore Arms Were Totally Worth It

This past weekend we closed the school-wide musical, Mary Poppins! This was my second time doing the show and I had an absolute blast getting to be on the production team. This was my third time assistant directing a show but the first time doing a musical and I'm so glad it was this show. I'll admit, when I first found out it was Mary Poppins I wasn't too excited (I remember back in high school thinking the show was too long) but this time around it flew by! I was also a member of the fly team - my job was to lift up the actors playing Mary and Bert.

Getting to see my student's successes is a wonderful feeling but I was especially proud of this group. While this may have been a high school show, Poppins could have been billed as professional caliber production. Every student put 110% effort into the show and it was magical to watch them bring this world to life.

While it will be nice to have arms that aren't sore, I'll miss watching my students onstage. It's always a joy to watch them work and I cannot be more proud of them! With this production being finished, it also marks the halfway point of student teaching being over - only two months left until I'm off to the land of adulthood... definitely trying to figure out if I'm excited for that or not.
