Schools are Fun and I Missed Them!

The past few weeks I've been working in two new educational programs at the Walnut: Adopt-A-School and Residency. Adopt-A-School is partnership with K-8 Philadelphia public schools where curriculum is designed to meet the Arts Education needs of the host school, teaching students about subjects such as Improv and Dance. Residency is a program where each school gets a different program depening on what their needs are! Residencies can be consisting of subjects like Improv, creating a Drama Club, One-Week Intensives, or coming to the building for workshops.
With Adopt-A-School, I'm getting to work with two incredible artists, Lindsay Marcus and Dave Allison at two Philadelphia Schools. Lindsay and I are at a Year-One school which is really cool since I got to revamp and redevelop the curriculum for Year-One schools this past summer. Dave and I are at a Year-Three school meaning I get to see the impact of this program on students who have been apart of it for years and how the program has impacted them.
These are two of my larger responsibilities with my apprenticeship and while it's challenging at times, I'm having a blast getting to teach dozens of different students about theatre!
