Teaching is Fun and I'm Exhausted

I just wrapped up another fall semester teaching at the Walnut! Once again with the incredible Lindsay Marcus, we taught 101: Kids Acting for Ages 5-7 and 102A: Kids Musical Theatre for Ages 5-7. We had a mix of repeat students and newbies which was amazing. It was such a cool experience seeing some of the more experienced students help out with a dance move or game every now-and-then. For the musical theatre class, we had the students perform a song and dance to The Jitterbug from "The Wizard of Oz" as well as the song I Just Can't Wait to Be King from "The Lion King." In our acting class, we had the students create circus characters and we created a story using a mix of games, improv, and a light script the students contributed to. And while they may drive me insane sometimes, this is definitely some of the more rewarding work I've been a part of.
In addition to finishing another semester at the Walnut Theatre School, I also finished my first semester at GCIT! It's been a magnificent experience so far and it's only going to get better from here on out - in addition to the sophomores and seniors, I've also been given the opportunity to create a new elective class titled "Singing for the Actor!" While I may not know what my exact plan is yet, I know there will be actors singing which is a start! The spring semester will also have me at GCIT full-time rather than the part-time status I've had this past semester, and then I add in the Sophomore One-Acts and Mary Poppins? I'm about to have a joyful, educational, and jam packed spring semester!
